Lucy’s Hat ****free crochet pattern****

Lucy’s Hat
A hat with an adjustable brim.

Materials

  • WW yarn in color of your choice (I used Caron Simply Soft in black)
  • 1” buttons x3
  • H hook (brim) K hook (hat body)
  • Scissors
  • Needle (to weave in ends/attach buttons)




Abbreviations

  • Ch: chain
  • Sl st: slip stitch
  • Sc: single crochet
  • Hdc- half double crochet
  • Hdc2tog: half double crochet 2 sts together, decrease
  • Dc- double crochet
  • 7/6/5dc cluster- *yo, insert hook into next st, pull up loop, yo pull through 2 loops* x7/6/5, yo pull through all loops on hook 
  • Dc2tog: double crochet 2 sts together, decrease
  • Blo: back loop only
  • Mirror hdc - insert hook back to front, you will yo backwards to keep loop on hook.
  • F.o. : finish off


Notes

All terms American.   If pattern reads "sc, sc2tog, 2sc" it would be read as, " single crochet, single crochet 2 stitches together, 2 single crochet in the next stitch", directions are to be repeated to end of row/round unless otherwise noted.  As with any pattern, be sure to read through once before beginning, and don't forget to mark your rounds! Begin 

With h hook

Ch10

1- sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (9) ch1 turn 

2-96 - Sc, blo sc7, sc (9) ch1 turn

97- sc3, ch3, sk 3 sts, sc3 (6sc, 3ch) ch1 turn begin button hole

98- sc, blo sc2, sc3 over ch, blo sc2, sc (9) ch1 turn

99-103 -sc, blo sc7, sc (9) ch1 turn

104- sc3, ch3, sk 3 sts, 3sc (6sc, 3ch) ch1 turn begin button hole

105- sc, blo sc2, sc3 over ch, blo sc2, sc (9) ch1 turn

106-108 - sc, blo sc7, sc (9) ch1 turn

At end of row 108 sl st back across row, sl st down row ends to row 96. Change to k hook, sc 96 evenly across row ends to end of brim.  Ch1 turn.

  • if you find this is way to small for your head you can increase rows by multiples of 8 before beginning button holes. Cluster count increases x1 for every 8 sts added.

Hat Body

1- Mirror hdc (96)  turn if mirror crochet is not your thing, do regular hdc

2- ch2, *7dc, 7dc cluster, ch1* (12 clusters) join to 1st dc- do NOT turn

3- ch2, *7dc cluster, ch1 7dc in ch*  (12 clusters) join to 1st cluster

4- ch2, *7dc, 7dc cluster, ch1* (12 clusters) join to 1st dc

5- ch2, *7dc cluster, ch1 7dc in ch*  (12 clusters) join to 1st cluster

6- ch2, *7dc, 7dc cluster, ch1* (12 clusters) join to 1st dc

Repeat row 12 until you have 12 curls, end with BLO sl st in beret. F.o. leaving a long tail for attaching hair to head. 


Finishing

Embroider face as desired. I use a bit of peach yarn to create a lower lip to really punctuate the frown lol I give her the angry looking eyebrows with a couple stitches of brown.  The hair/hat should be pinned before sewing to be sure it stays in place. Squish beret down to Mama’s right and add a couple sts with black to keep it’s shape, be sure you attach the area near keyring well.

Sloth of Goonies keychain ***free crochet pattern***

This has been a pretty rough year with Lupus but I am so excited to announce that we have plans to visit Astoria, Oregon this summer for Goonies Days! (June 7-10, 2019)

Goonies is one of our family all time favorite movies...maybe your family favorite too?

I wanted to make a little something to commemorate this awesome trip and I settled on a keychain of Sloth ♡

I felted his mouth but you could easily embroider as well.

Ww yarn in light peach (I used I Love This Yarn) and warm brown  (I used Red Heart Super Saver)

9mm safety eyes

Fiberfill

Finishing

Attach brow at an angle hanging a bit over the eyes. Attach the left ear in line with left eye, and right with right eye. See picture for placement. Weave in ends after attaching.

Felt or embroider mouth to your liking.

Hair- cut some strands of warm brown yarn approx 5" long to attach to head for hair along the hair line created in 1st end of head. Add as little or as much as you like to get the look you want.

Jack Skellington Rattle ***free crochet pattern


It's been a while since I've posted a new pattern and I figured a Jack Skellington Rattle is quick little pattern and fun to make!



Rattle inserts


Materials

Yarn size 4 white & black (I used Red Heart Super Saver)

Needle for weaving ends and making face

Fiberfill

Rattle insert (mine are 22mm)

Super Bulky Pussy Hat ***free CROCHET pattern


My marmie is planning for the 2 of us to go Washington D.C. this January and requested a new Pussy Hat - with super bulky yarn to be used.  Very easy and quick to work up.






Materials


P hook (11.5mm)

Size 6 super bulky yarn in color choice ( I used Lion Brand Hometown USA in Honolulu Pink- 1 skein)
commissions earned 

Scissors

Needle for  closing top of hat and weaving in ends


Abbreviations 

Ch- chain

Sl st- slip stitch

Sc - single crochet

Blo - back loop only

F.o. - finish off

Begin

Ch21

1- begin in 2nd ch from hook- sc 20 (20) ch1 turn

2-34- blo sc (20) ch1 turn

If 34 rows is too long or too short to go around your head reduce or increase row amts; be sure to end on EVEN row. Ch1 at end of last row.

Finishing

Align 1st and last rows, sl st through both to top of hat. Ch1, leave a long tail to close the top of the hat.  Sew top closed weave in ends.
