Teething Ring - free crochet pattern

My best friend has a baby who is teething and I have a grandson exploring his world a with his mouth and teething as well. I had been wanting to make something for my little monsters to use as teether and I happened upon a bunch of wood rings 2 3/4" across and of course I have cotton yarn ;)

We will be crocheting over the ring:
act like the ring is a st, insert your hook, yo, draw up loop, finish as sc (easier than it looks!)

Materials:

F hook
Wood ring - mine are 2 3/4" across center from outside edge to outside edge
Ww cotton yarn
Scissors
Needle - to weave in ends

Abbreviations:

* - repeat directions between stars
Sk- skip
Ch- chain
Sl st- slip stitch
Sc- single crochet
Hdc: half double crochet
FO-  finish off
Yo- yarn over

Notes

All terms American.   If pattern reads "sc, sc2tog, 2sc" it would be read as, " single crochet, single crochet 2 stitches together, 2 single crochet in the next stitch", directions are to be repeated to end of row/round unless otherwise noted.  As with any pattern, be sure to read through once before beginning, and don't forget to mark your rounds! (I use a bit of contrasting yarn) This is an original design by me, Anna Wilson 2016.

You may do whatever you like with your completed Teething Ring, you can sell them, teethe on them yourself or even give it as a gift!  I only ask that you please not claim this pattern as your own, I worked hard to design my Teething Ring pattern :)

Directions:

*Guage isn't too important

1- sc40 around ring, keep sts tight and be sure top of st is to the outside of the ring (40) ch1 turn

2- sk 2 sts, * 6hdc in next st, sk 4 sts * x8, sl st in last st, fo weave in ends

Easy right?

My grandson loves his, I hope the little monster in your life loves theirs as well!

I would love to see anything you make:
