You may do whatever you want with your completed Convertible Travel Pillow Blanket, take a cross country train ride, take a flight to visit family and cuddle comfortably or sell/gift them. I only ask that you not claim this pattern as your own, I worked hard to design my Convertible Travel Pillow Blanket.
Begin Blanket with H hook
Beginning ch multiple of 26 + 4 (I made 316 ch)
1- dc in 4th ch from hook,+sk 2 ch *v st, sk 2 ch,* x2, v st, ch1, v st in next ch, work * to * x3, dc2tog in 3rd and 5th ch +. Repeat from + to + across. Ch2 turn
2- work 1 dc in ch1 of next v st. *v st in ch1 space of next 3 v st, v st ch1 v st in next ch1 sp of v st, work 1 v st in next 3 v st, dc2tog over next 2 v st * repeat across. Finish with dc2tog over last v st and last dc. Ch 2 turn
3-? Repeat row 2 until your piece is desired size. My blanket is approx 41x40” ish. You should have a little of the Mandala left over. F.o. Weave in ends.
Pillow Case I hook with Yarn Bee Cloud 9
Fold blanket in half so chevrons meet. Fold one more time the same direction. Fold in half x2. This is the size of your pillow. You can adjust the case size as you work ensuring you get the best fit.
I began with a ch 31 you can adjust hook size or increase/decrease ch as desired
1- begin in 2nd ch, sc29, 3sc, turn to work along opposite side of ch, sc29, 2sc (64) join ch 1 turn
2- 2hdc x2, hdc29, 2hdc x3, hdc29, 2hdc (70) join, ch1 do NOT turn
3-? - hdc (70) join ch1
When you reach desired length join, do NOT finish off.
Next row- Flatten pillow case, sl st to approx 2” from side, ch1 turn, hdc to approx 2” from other side. Ch1 turn
Next row- hdc across ch 1 turn repeat this row until you have approx 3” of flap. Ch1 turn
Next row- sk 1st st, hdc approx 1.5”, ch1, sk1 st, hdc to approx 1.5” from end, ch1, sk 1 st, hdc to last 2 sts, sk 1 st, hdc in last. Ch 1 turn (button holes made)
Last row- sk 1st st, hdc to last 2 sts, sk 1 st, hdc. F.o. Weave in ends.
Attaching to blanket
Fold blanket in half so chevrons meet. Fold one more time in the same direction. See photo for case placement. Sew to blanket along inside of case.
Fold up blanket and reach hands into case to grip blanket edge at bottom of case, flip case inside out over blanket. Line up flaps to check for button placement. Attach buttons and enjoy!
Optional Luggage Strap
Using left over yarn from project, 1 of each type, attach the yarn with surface crochet and sc up edge as in picture, ch 1 and hdc rows until long enough to reach opposite side, f.o. and use end to sew to pillowcase.
